Laser Baby’s Day Out
Simon enters the cell and sees a little girl with laser powers. He asks her what her name is, and she responds with a laser beam. Simon is surprised by her power and asks her how she got it. She tells him that she was born with it, and that the other children in the cell have powers too. Simon is curious about their powers, so he asks them all what they are. Some of the children tell him that they can control fire, others can turn invisible, and still others can shoot beams of light from their eyes. Simon is amazed by all of their abilities and decides to keep Laser Baby as his new assistant. ..
Simon has tried to adopt a child for the past two years, but has been unsuccessful. He dreams of being on the Vought-adoption wall, where he would be able to adopt a child from a family who is in need. Unfortunately, his failed endeavour has not gone unnoticed and Superbrain, the boss overseeing all of this, puts Laser Baby’s name down for termination.
Simon busts out of prison and hot on the trail of the soldiers who killed his family, leading to a bloody showcase of brutal action in which soldiers are ripped apart and Laser Baby manages to save the day.
Superbrain showed signs of being ready to kill Simon, telepathically moving a pile of rubble their way. Sensing Simon was in danger, Laser Baby managed to control her powers and stop the threat. As the pair eventually walked off together, Laser Baby left a bloody trail in her wake. ..
The Episode Review
The Boys: Diabolical starts off strong, riffing on Looney Tunes and other cartoons while adding a good deal of blood and gore for good measure. There’s a nice ebb and flow to this chapter, without a single line of dialogue throughout. But then it’s not really needed.
The Boys is a show that is known for its comedy. It leans into its violence, something that makes it an interesting choice for a show about crime.
Either way, this sets things up nicely for an upcoming anthology of cartoon hijinks. With light, breezy chapters clocking in at around 11-14 minutes, this is an easy one to get into. ..
