The Punisher

Frank Castle sets out to avenge his murdered family. With military background, a no-nonsense attitude and plenty of action, The Punisher earns his lucrative title.

The Punisher is a well-done crime drama that offers a fair amount of bang for your buck. The show is well-paced and action-packed, with strong character development and a satisfying ending. While not perfect, The Punisher is an enjoyable watch that should be added to any crime drama fan’s list.

Season one of The Punisher was a dark and gritty affair that left many questions unanswered. Fans of the character will want to read our thoughts on the season in our full reviews, but here are five takeaways that we think could help build on this first season for future seasons.

  1. The Punisher should be more than just a one-dimensional antihero: While the show did an excellent job of portraying Frank as a complex and layered character, there were times when he was simply portrayed as an angry vigilante with no real redeeming qualities. This could be improved upon by exploring his backstory and motivations further, which would make him more relatable to viewers.
  2. The Punisher’s relationship with Daredevil should be explored further: While their interactions were intriguing, it was not fully explored what their relationship meant for either character. This could be expanded upon in future seasons to explore their complicated history and how it has shaped them as individuals.
  3. The Punisher’s enemies should be more fleshed out: While Jigsaw, Microchip, and Billy Russo were all interesting villains, they were not given enough development to make them truly threatening. This could be improved by giving each villain more screen time and developing their motives further so that viewers feel invested in their fate.
  4. There was too much focus on violence: While the violence was necessary for establishing the dark tone of the show, it became overwhelming at times and detracted from the plotlines involving other characters. This could be remedied by dialing back on the amount of violence shown throughout each episode so that it is used sparingly but effectively to convey Frank’s emotional state instead. ..
