Walk of Faith

In the first episode of Season 2 of Sweet Magnolias, Maddie gossips about Noreen. Maddie is not exactly happy about Kyle opening up to her, while the women high-five Dana over her kissing Ronnie, calling it a “hot history lesson.” No mention is made of how Jeremy will feel about this then?

Erik continues to support Helen by bringing her food to her office (at home of course) and gently encouraging her to lean on him if she wants dinner. ..

Kyle’s therapy session is a breakthrough, but we don’t see it. Later on in the episode, Ashley apologizes to Maddie for how he’s been acting and they hug it out.

When they head to the spa, Trotter encourages Kyle and Ty to join him in meditation. However, they can’t concentrate and start giggling and fooling about. The thing is, this feel-good attitude doesn’t concern Trotter and he simply grins.

Following the big loss, Cal tries to see the bright side but unfortunately he was hired to win a state championship. As that hasn’t happened, then it could well be that they’re going to get budget cuts and that means he could lose his job. ..

It was a close call, but Mary Vaughn decided to keep Cal on the job after all. She was worried about the consequences of firing him, and she wanted to make sure he didn’t get too angry or frustrated. That’s until Maddie came in and calmed him down.

Meanwhile, Cece hangs out with Ty at the same time as Dana hangs out with Jeremy and kisses him in the kitchen again. Thankfully Annie calls her out for not being fair but Dana can’t even see what she’s doing, which upsets Annie more and she hurries home.

We learn that Helen’s miscarriage can’t be explained, but it’s possible that it was fate. After all, this allows her to let go of Ryan and potentially embrace Erik instead. Helen is still on-board with the idea of having a baby though.

Although Jeremy and Dana are still in business together, Dana is conflicted about Ronnie. Just before he leaves, Jeremy tells her to choose a pasture – he only hopes that it’s his.

As the episode ends, Helen ends up in church with Isaac, where they read bible passages. One, regarding “the truth shall set you free” sets off a lightbulb moment for her, as she believes they’re one step closer to uncovering Isaac’s birth mother.

The Episode Review

Dana confronts Jeremy and stops him from lying to her about what he’s doing. I’m still not sure she got off lightly here, but the choice ahead will be interesting.

Maddie is still trying to figure out what to do with her mother’s subplot, which is still kicking around after Kyle’s return.

I think that Kyle’s plight on-screen and in therapy could have been more effective. I think that his acting skills could have been used to show off how he is feeling and what he needs help with.

The show seems to be going smoothly without much excitement, but I hope that the remaining episodes will pick up a bit.
