A blue dragon appears and quickly dispatches the opposing forces. It shows off its powerful abilities in a series of destructive displays. ..

The blue dragon is a new creature that Vox Machina has discovered. The council has already gleaned this information via General Krieg.

Sovereign Uriel has decided to fight the dragon head on, despite Lady Kima’s objections. Again, Vex experiences an off-putting sensation that seems to be coming from Sir Gregory Fince. ..

After the meeting, Vex suggests they find Fince and see what he’s up to. Meanwhile, Pike and Vax visit Gilmore’s Glorious Goods, a famed magic shop in the area. ..

While they can’t afford any weapons, the Wyrm convince Gilmore to give them some advice. The Wyrm, Gilmore says, can only be defeated in a gorge where two rivers meet.

They break into the manor and find out that Fince is going to try to assassinate General Krieg. They are able to track him down and stop him from doing anything dangerous.

They catch Fince stealing documents and he confesses to them. Just as Fince is about to confess to them that these papers would prove General Krieg’s involvement in the recent crises, he is stabbed from behind.

Krieg steps forward, revealing himself behind Fince. Vex’s senses are overwhelmed- not because of Krieg; the feeling is coming from him.

Emon’s dragon, Kragoth, is angry that Krieg has escaped and sent his minions after him. The adventurers must help Krieg fight off the minions and then find a way back to Emon before Kragoth catches up to them. ..

The general reveals his plan for the dragons to rule the entire world. Wiping out Uriel’s army was all part of the plan. Krieg himself then transforms into his dragon form, known as Brimscythe, the Iron Storm.

Vox Machina barely escapes with their lives in this fight against Brimscythe. However, by using illusions and teamwork, they manage to slay the dragon and escape through the portal unscathed.

Uriel rewards the mercenaries by making them protectors of the realm and honorary members of the Council of Tal’Dorei. To the chagrin of many in the group, he does not gift them with gold. But they do receive a deed to a manor so that the council can keep their protectors close by.

Uriel informs Vox Machina that dignitaries are on their way to Emon to discuss the security of the realm. Vox Machina is of course invited to the banquet! ..

The episode ends with a scene that highlights the Lord and Lady Briarwoods. They are on their way to the banquet when bandits overtake their carriage. Lord Briarwood, however, bites one of them and overpowers the rest. There is an ominous music playing in the background as the carriage approaches Emon.

The Episode Review

In “The Briarwoods,” Vox Machina faced off against a powerful family of witches. Though they may have emerged victorious, their adventure is only just beginning. With the Briarwoods on their trail, the show throws out just enough intriguing details to hook us in anticipation for the next storyline. ..

Vox Machina is a team of adventurers who work together to achieve common goals. Their image is one of unity and strength, and this episode was able to convey that through their work. We can see how this group works together, and it’s an absurdly fantastic ride to be on.

The voice acting continues to be excellent, and David Tennant excels at bringing Krieg’s character to life. In the next episode, Matthew Mercer and Grey DeLisle will naturally step into the roles of Sylas and Delilah Briarwood.

The Briarwoods are a key part of the story, and their significance is clear. Lord Briarwood is a vampire, and it seems as if he and his wife are only visiting Emon to say hello. This makes for an interesting story, and I’m sure you’ll be able to make it interesting yourself.
