The Dragging Dead

Eun-Ji is happy.

Cheol-Su, on the roof, decides to keep his mouth shut and saves himself instead of telling the soldiers about Cheong-San and the others. This leaves them to their fate instead. ..

Just as the soldiers all fly off, the kids manage to unlock the door but it’s too late. Now, in the middle of this big skirmish, Nam-Ra’s strange powers manifest, saving Cheong-San from the wrath of Gwi-Nam and knocking him back down the stairs. ..

The kids on the roof of the school decide to make a big SOS signal just in case the helicopter comes back. Meanwhile, the other group of kids, including Min-Jae and the others, decide to follow suit and head up to the rooftop too. They come up with a plan to do this while avoiding the zombies. ..

The group of teenagers on the roof of a building in downtown Los Angeles were trying to make a fire using some wood they found when they realized that one of the boys had a lighter. ..

This episode features a theme of rooftops as Jae-Ik and Orangibberish try to lure the zombies away so they make it to safety off the roof they find themselves stuck on. Ho-Cheol shows up on a minibus though and encourages them both to jump to safety.

The episode then screeches to a halt. Most of the drama we see take place after this revolves around the kids sitting around for the night and waiting for daybreak. Even Jae-Ik, who has had an action packed series of sequences, ends up on a road trip. While that would ordinarily be okay, it’s awkwardly placed right at the tail-end of this series when a mid-point breather would have been more fitting. Anyway, I digress.

Na-Yeon has been stuck in the storage room for much of the season since leaving the group. She does venture out to grab the video camera, watching the whole group as they leave their messages.

Unfortunately, Gwi-Nam soon finds herself and after evilly telling her he’s hungry, bites her neck. Now, it’ll be interesting to see if she turns into another of these super-powered zombies, like Nam-Ra or just like the infected. We shall see.

A group of people gather on the roof to share their thoughts and feelings. Cheong-San, who has been feeling down lately, opens up and tells the group that he’s liked On-Jo ever since he was 6. When On-Jo leaves the group to talk to Su-Hyeok, Su-Hyeok gives him a approving nod. However, On-Jo simply tells him to leave. ..

Gwi-Nam makes it to the rooftop and grabs On-Jo. Cheong-San tries to stop him, but Gwi-Nam slams him to the ground and starts pushing his thumbs into his eye. ..

The Episode Review

The episode was slow to start and didn’t really pick up until the last few minutes. All of our characters were pretty bland and we didn’t learn much about them.

This 12 episode series has been a bit of a letdown. We were promised more development with the characters and instead we’ve received mostly exposition and setup. It’s been frustrating because we wanted to invest in these kids and their story.

It seems as if these kids should have been saved by the helicopter, moved to the quarantine camp so they can tell their stories…and then let another infection out like 28 Weeks Later. Instead, it almost feels like this series is dragging its heels.

The show has been very exciting so far, with a lot of action and drama to keep things ticking over. The ending here with Gwi-Nam definitely hints that bigger episodes are on the horizon.
