Anubis and How I Learned To Love The Nuke

Anubis is a financial terrorist group that is very much on the rise. They are a threat to both the world and nuclear war, and President Nukem has had enough. He tells Russia on TV that they’re ready for them.

Boris Smirnoff, the Premier of the Soviet Union, is watching this in disdain. He doesn’t trust America and is paranoid that they’ll soon be able to harness Marvelous Man’s power to use against them. If that happens, Boris promises to strike first.

Hawk uses Cortex to find out where Motion Blur is. Unfortunately, this – plus Hawk investigating the Guardians of Justice – breaks on the news and the public find themselves losing faith in the heroes.

The Anubis Queen is the dictator in charge of the group Anubis and she’s been causing a lot of trouble. The President is already on the case and he uses Red Talon and Spider-Man to take her out. Even the armour looks the same!

Anubis Queen: You know the drill. I want to know everything you know. Spider: I don’t know anything!

Red Talon agrees to help Hawk and the two discuss ways to fight terrorism. They come up with a plan that will save America’s reputation and show that they are not afraid of terrorists.

In a game of strategy, Red Talon must navigate his way through the thick of the action, using a first person point of view to tell the story. Unfortunately, he too meets a grizzly end when a grenade explodes at his feet.

With the President angry and bombing anywhere for a distraction, Boris retaliates by moving his troops into Canada and preparing to strike.

With the Guardians down on luck and in need of a win, it falls to Little Wing, Hawk’s deadly protégé, who manages to kill General Orsted and his troops.

Anubis’ rampage continues as they confirm that the Guardians are definitely responsible for killing Marvelous Man.

The Episode Review

The Guardians of Justice is a show that is all about action and slick visuals. While it has its endearing features, it all feels so cliched and retreads ground that it’s been covered numerous times before in this genre.

This week’s “Guardians of Justice” episode had a lot of wacky moments that made it feel unhinged and sporadic. ..

While the inclusion of Anubis is a nice one, it also negates all those villains we briefly encountered in the last couple of episodes, along with adding new characters that come and go as quickly as they appear.

The jury is still out on whether or not this show will settle down, but it’s definitely going to be an acquired taste. ..
