Ring

Leanne is worried about the squatters outside her house. With the house overlooking the park, she’s concerned. As they glance up at her, she shuts the blinds. Leanne has made it through the night and in the morning, she ends up exercising with Dorothy in the attic.

Jericho is in the middle of a tense standoff with their house being assessed for threats against it. Leanne is adamant that she can do this herself and they don’t need to splash out, but things are tense.

Dorothy arrives at the station intent on talking to her bosses about her job. Leanne, who is left alone at the front door, quickly shuts it and locks it behind her. ..

Dorothy and Sean’s aspirations cause friction in the house. Sean promises Leanne a catering gig with her but Dorothy, having marched down to the station, has a big journalist gig and she’s leaving for the day.

The chefs working on the Sean Brockman project are creating more drama than ever before. Sylvia is mean to Tobe, but in a way that is watered down from Gordon Ramsay. Leanne tries to convince Tobe to stand up for himself, while the increased level of stress becomes unbearable for Leanne.

As the drama heats up, Sylvia trips on the floor and knocks off her ring finger completely. Tobe accidentally switches it on, turning the finger to mush…but also manages to retrieve the ring, so there is that. ..

That night, Julian urges the gang to turn on the TV. As the gang huddle together and watch a recorded broadcast, Dorothy’s breasts start leaking live on TV and as she hurries back home, Leanne is the first one to embrace her.

Dorothy has been having strange dreams in which she believes the universe is conspiring against her. She’s convinced that Leanne’s influence is to blame, but she can’t seem to shake the feeling. Up in the attic, Leanne takes Sylvia’s ring and begins dancing in front of the mirror with it on.

The squatters are gathering in greater numbers outside the Turner household, and something big is going to happen soon. But we won’t know what it is just yet. ..

The Episode Review

This week’s episode of Servant feels like it’s dragging on too long, with no real payoff in sight. credit where it’s due though, as the episode does manage to nail down the feeling of being overwhelmed by stress. Beyond that, there’s really not a lot else going on.

The lack of progress on the main plot line has made this horror feel like a familiar routine, which is a shame because the genre has so much potential.

There’s nothing particularly scary here, although if this pace doesn’t pick up and see some movement on the main story, another 10 full episodes of this is certainly a terrifying proposition! ..
