Shaky Alibi

Episode 3 of The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window begins with Anna being brought into the house by a mysterious figure. We are led to believe it is Neil but it is not 100% confirmed. ..

Detective Lane and Officer Walters want to take a statement from Anna about the murder, but they reveal that Lisa isn’t actually dead. There’s no trace of her murder in Neil’s house and as far as they’re aware, she’s flown out to Seattle.

Anna tries to explain her reasoning to Neil, but it falls on deaf ears. The police don’t write Anna up for a false report, but encourage her to try and make it up to Neil the following day. ..

Anna decides to investigate further and finds that Neil was right - the police were spooked by Emma and encouraged her to stop looking.

Anna breaks into Lisa’s house and finds her earring by the window. Unfortunately, she’s caught by Neil and Emma who return home. Anna decides to head off on a “grief retreat” for the weekend.

Anna notices an advertisement for Olympia Airlines preparing to fly West. Only, that means they’re not currently flying there now. That’s a problem because Lisa works for Olympia and if they’re not going to Seattle, it throws her alibi out the window. ..

Detective Lane listens to Anna and tries to understand what she’s trying to say. He also seems sympathetic, which is a nice change from the other officers who were just dismissive of Anna. It’s also revealed that Mike killed and ate Anna’s daughter, which has really affected her emotionally.

Anna takes pity on her and suggests she head home instead. However, when Anna steps outside the station, she notices someone has scrawled “stop or ur next” on her car. This incentivizes Anna to double down on investigating. She uses Douglas’ contacts, posing as his assistant, to get background checks done on Lisa and Rex.

Anna investigates the possibility that Neil may have killed Lisa and Meredith, two of her friends, in order to cover up his involvement with Meredith Colman.

The Episode Review

Episode 3 shifts the focus away from the satire and comedy in previous episodes, and towards the drama surrounding Lisa’s potential death. We also see more of Anna’s tragic past involving her daughter, and understanding that she died horrifically at the hands of Massacre Mike is certainly a shocking moment. ..

The series has an interesting tone to it and despite being a comedic satire, actually has a fair amount going for it to act as a standalone mystery. The deaths and twists are particularly well executed, making the series stand out from other mystery shows on television.

Fans of the “Stranger Things” series are eagerly awaiting the release of Season 3, which is set to air in late 2017. However, the show’s creators have left many questions unanswered, leaving fans eager for more. ..
