Muse is a legendary act in the rock scene. They have developed and honed some memorable songs over the years. However, not everything has been smooth and enchanting. Sometimes mediocrity creeps between the lines. ..

The band’s new album, Will Of The People, is a work in progress. Some songs are better than others, but overall it’s not all perfect. There are some songs that work and some that don’t. Some of the songs are catchy and others aren’t so great. But overall, this album is something new and different for the band.

This is not a full-on swipe at a favourite unit of musicians, as they’re supremely talented and astute, but more an analysis of how their new album feels unfinished. The album feels hollow and unfinished because it’s not really finished.

It could be that Matt Bellamy’s lyrical spark has gone out, and the band has been experimenting too much with their sound.

The band has had some incredible songwriting in the past, with lyrics that are flawless and seamlessly fall into the minds of those who choose to listen. The band’s expert chord progression also makes for an enjoyable listening experience.

Muse have the potential to create spectacular music once again, but Will of the People just doesn’t have the same wow factor. ..

The album starts with ‘Will of the People’. It isn’t the most focused track, but there’s are catchy moments. Bellamy sings lyrics that have been done to death, though. ‘Liberation’ opens with a soft intro, followed by singing with more subtle notes. The acoustics are gratifying enough, and that dash of piano creates a different dynamic. ..

The song is about moving on, and how difficult it can be. It’s a sweet track that we can all relate to. Bellamy shows his writing skills here, and this is what we want – songs which mean something.

The song is about a man who feels like he’s been killed too many times and wants to end the cycle. He sings about how he’s tired of being killed, tired of being someone who can’t do anything. The song sounds like it could be from a movie soundtrack or a video game, with its repetitive riffing and dark lyrics. Despite the familiarity, the song has some great moments that make it worth listening to.

The Will of the People is not Muse’s finest LP, but there are glimpses of quality to be had here. It’s not fully broken, but it isn’t completely memorable either.
