What will break the curse?

Episode 6 of “Once Upon a Time” begins with Soledad returning the blue dragon to the witch out in the woods. She refuses to take it back and admits that Diego and Soledad are the only ones who can break the curse. If not, then the town will forever remain cursed. ..

The town of Mallow is in a bind. They have been shackled by the blue dragon, which has prevented it from flying into the lake and freeing the town. They need to release the dragon during a pink moon to break free.

Does Juana leave with Antonio?

In the present, Juana and Antonio are still on the run from the curse. At the end of the last episode, Juana drove away with Antonio (who had stolen the amulet) and we catch up with them at the train station. ..

Maxi is left watching helplessly as a train leaves the station, only to realize that the pair never actually got on the train. Juana changes her mind and turns away from him after all. Antonio tries in vain to stop her reaching the hotel.

Maxi manages to slip away and rides a unicorn to Juana. It would appear that these two are the real prince and princess, and together they ride up to find Goya and urge her to hand over the dragon. They believe they’re the prophesied couple to break this curse.

What happens with the blue dragon?

In 1814, Spanish artist Soledad Goya releases a painting of a dragon that is believed to be a prophecy of the end of the world. Goya believes in love and does not believe in prophecies, so she decides to release the dragon instead of keeping it hidden.

A jealous and enraged Antonio shows up down by the shore, using the amulet to knock out Goya and holding Maxi up at knife-point. Just before Maxi meets a nasty fate, the witch appears and saves them.

With the dragon free, the pink moon appears in the sky as a wisp of smoke surrounds the couple. Goya can’t feel any love toward Maxi because she sees him as her best friend.

How does Happily Never After end?

With all hope lost, the curse is lifted. But how? Well, it turns out the twist here is that no one said they had to be in love with each other to lift the curse. They just needed to honor and accept Diego and Soledad’s eternal love and struggle.

Juana and Maxi kiss at the lake and pink wisps of smoke surround them. Maxi goes back to be with Goya and the pair end up together. The town is able to finally love again. ..

The Episode Review

Once Upon a Time is a fun watch, albeit one that’s rather predictable and a little cheap-looking. Werther that’s intentional or not is another matter it does work quite well to give this a distinctly rustic look.

The songs have been consistently good throughout the season, and the finale does at least end on a positive note, leaving everything wrapped up nicely. The final twist, however, comes out of left field and is a bit disappointing, especially as it wasn’t really foreshadowed prior to this episode. ..

Apple’s Schmigadoon! series tackled the same sort of idea, but with a bit more pizzazz.
