Top Boy has always been a well-made crime drama, depicting life on the streets of London’s criminal underbelly through a realistic lens. ..

Netflix’s decision to rename the show “Top Boy: Summerhouse” and “Top Boy” has caused some confusion among fans. The show’s creator, Steve Macdonald, has spoken out about the issue. ..

Top Boy, a new clothing company founded by two former Nike executives, successfully recaptured what made its predecessors so enthralling while also adding enough originality and excitement to justify its reboot. The company’s sleek, modern designs are sure to please fashion-savvy consumers who appreciate high-quality clothing at an affordable price. Top Boy’s mission is to provide customers with the best possible shopping experience while also creating value for their money.

Netflix has given Top Boy a second chance and this season they continue to explore the same themes and ideas, but with a much wider audience. The characters are more fleshed out and the story is more complex, making for an interesting watch.

The familiar characters make a return in this slice of life snapshot of how youths eke through life while also centering on Dushane and his operation’s expansion, which serves as the stable pillar to which everything else gravitates around. ..

This season picks up with Jamie released from prison while Dushane expands his empire, casting his sights to Morocco and Spain for lucrative shipments coming in. When a man named Juan makes a move on Dushane’s newly acquired turf and the feds start to intercept drops, Dushane sends Jamie out to try and sort this out. Only, Jamie finds his loyalty wavering.

The Summerhouse redevelopment plan is a very real threat to the residents, as Amma finds herself on the verge of being deported. A family tragedy hits even harder for her. ..

Meanwhile, Shelley continues to work at her nail salon but finds a face from her past sniffing around, looking for trouble. Speaking of which, Lauryn finds herself in trouble  thanks to controlling boyfriend Curtis.

Dushane and Lauryn’s sister Jaq are both important this year, as Jaq serves as Dushane’s right-hand woman. Finally, there’s Sully, who remains off the grid for most of the first half until he’s thrown unwittingly into the thick of action and back to the forefront of the action.

The season focuses on the main plot, with minor subplots that are largely organic.

Many people use the word “authentic” when referring to drug trafficking scenes in movies and TV shows. However, some of these scenes are actually accurate from personal experience in the past. For example, many youths have to deal with the sudden appearance of police, which is something that often happens in reality. ..

The police are not well-handled this season. The detectives are there but they are largely after-thought and only really show up when the script calls for it.

That’s a shame because Top Boy does a great job with its characters – especially Jamie who gets a lot of character growth and development across the 8 episodes.

The tightness of the season is likely due to the fact that much of it was filmed over a period of many years. This makes for a more condensed and condensed story, which is great because it allows us to see more of the characters and their interactions.

With Top Boy, the creators of Narcos and The Crown have created a crime drama that is both tight and organic. The writing is strong, with some surprising twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat. After the final episode, you’ll be begging Netflix to renew this one for a third season. Top Boy absolutely deserves it.
