A bland romcom with wasted potential

Here are five of the best romcoms to watch this Valentine’s Day.

The film is a predictable and unimaginative romantic comedy that does not offer much in the way of new or innovative ideas. It is instead a typical romcom that is full of clichés and predictable plotlines.

Love Tactics is a forgettable romantic comedy that fails to make an impact on the viewer. The lead female character is cardboard cutout and the movie’s only goal is to generate laughs.

Asli’s blog is a series of posts detailing how predictable and awful some men are and how to circumnavigate these obvious clichés and striking out as strong, independent women.

Kerem and his friend, Amir, make a bet with each other to see who will fall in love with the other first. Kerem believes that he has women figured out and knows exactly how to swoon anyone who crosses his path. Amir, on the other hand, believes that he is the typical player and does not know how to swoon anyone. As a result, they make a bet in which they will both fall in love with the other first.

If you’ve figured out where this is going, you’re absolutely right. There are a few tidbits about Kerem’s past sprinkled in here, and a couple of nice moments, but the second half of this movie completely falls apart. ..

Asli’s strong, confident persona completely falls apart in the presence of this big, strong man. The story turns into a tired, cliché-ridden ride. ..

Love Tactics is a poorly written game that makes no effort to develop its characters. Most of the supporting characters are absent until the end, and the romance between Asli’s ditzy friend Cansu and Kerem’s colleague Tuna is never developed. ..

The film feels like it’s trying too hard to be something it’s not, and while it does have some great moments, the overall feeling is a little off.

The only jokes that work, come from Kerem’s bumbling confession that a horse kicked him in the groin, which is why he can’t have sex. There’s also a moment involving Cansu calling a tuna a bird, but beyond that there’s really not a lot else that’s outright funny.

The film’s humour is stifled in favour of an utterly predictable story that lacks any sense of originality or spin on the tried and tested tropes. Normally, that wouldn’t be an issue, but given how adamant this film is early on that its characters are strong and independent, the ending almost contradicts that. ..

Netflix’s decision to release Love Tactics, a paper-thin and unoriginal comedy, is a missed opportunity. The show has few memorable jokes and characters with wonky motivations, making it unlikely to garner much love from viewers.
