Dong-Seok and Seon-A 2

In-Gwon heads home to find his wife, Ho-Sik, glum and down in the dumps. In-Gwon tries to comfort her, but she seems not to be feeling well. In-Gwon decides to take a walk with Ho-Sik in the park nearby. While they are walking, In-Gwon notices a man walking by with a bag over his shoulder. The man is wearing a black jacket and he looks like he is about to leave. Suddenly, the man jumps into the air and throws a rock at In-Gwon and Ho-Sik.

In-Gwon and Ho-Sik drink as they decide to let their kids have the baby after all.

In-Gwon apologizes to his old friend Yeong-Ju for calling her a girl who sleeps around. Just before In-Gwon leaves, Ho-Sik encourages him to forgive Hyeon too, and reveals that he’s going to treat him like a brother now.

The two men are not related, but they share a bitter rivalry. This rivalry looks to be over for now, as In-Gwon tries to prove his point.

Dong-Seok has a whole line of people to sell his gear to. That certainly puts him in a good mood as he does his chores around selling odds and ends. Unfortunately, the dream day turns into a nightmare when Dong-Seok’s truck gets stuck in the mud. Through some ingenuity though, he does manage to free it.

Dong-Seok heads to the motel to dry his things and the owner quizzes him over the “woman in Room 201.” This is Seon-A, of course. ..

Dong-Seok is worried about Seon-A, who hasn’t been seen in three days. He expects the worst and is constantly ringing her phone. ..

Dong-Seok’s past is a key part of the reason why he and his best friend Jae-Gu have a bad relationship. Dong-Seok reveals his past to Jae-Gu in flashback, and the two develop a strong dislike for each other. The more we learn about Dong-Seok’s past, the more complicated his relationship with Jae-Gu becomes.

Dong-Seok drives up to his old house to see Seon-A. Seon-A greets him and they chat for a bit before Dong-Seok tells her he’s going to head back home. Seon-A says she’ll see him soon and drives away.

Dong-Seok has a lot of painful memories at the memorial park. One of them is when he sees Jae-Gu meeting Seon-A alone. When he goes back to town, Dong-Seok follows Jae-Gu thinking he’s slept with Seon-A and beats him down. ..

Dong-Seok and Seon-A discuss their issues and clear the air over what really happened.

Seon-A opens up and admits that she was all he had back then and truly loved him. Not only that, it turns out she never slept with Jae-Gu after all. They were getting undressed but he ended up getting cold feet and decided to leave, not wanting to betray his friend after all. ..

Seon-A also admits that she never called the police after Jae-Gu was beaten down. It was just to scare him.

Dong-Seok and Yoo-Aeun watch the sunrise together. Whilst there, Dong-Seok asks her about the pills she’s taking. They’re anti-depressants, but she takes them infrequently since the day her dad died.

This is also the day Dong-Seok beat up Jae-Gu for that misunderstanding. Seon-A’s father drove his car into the sea after sending Seon-A off on an errand. It’s a horrid day for her all round and it’s no surprise that she snapped. ..

After chatting, Seon-A comments on how easy it is to talk with Dong-Seok about sensitive topics. Dong-Seok’s anger wells up again, however, when he learns that Seon-A’s partner left her because of her depression. ..

Seon-A adopts an outburst of anger towards the heavens in response to Yeol, finding it to be a beautiful and cathartic moment. This helps to build her character. ..

As this is going on, we cut to Yeong-Ok and Jun, who discuss the nature of love. The latter decides they should go on a trip to Gapa Island. They’re interrupted by Eun-Hui dancing about though, given the bar has made 300,000 won that night and they want to celebrate.

In the midst of the school day, Hyeon and Yeong-Ju kiss as they walk to school. Myeong-Bo, who is driving them, stops the car and berates them for kissing. In-Gwon and Ho-Sik, who are also driving by, open their windows and tell Myeong-Bo that it’s okay. They have already been married for a while. ..

Dong-Seok and Seon-A enter the old house and continue remodelling. Seon-A admits that all of this is for her and Yeol. She’s determined to win Yeol and live together in this old house. Losing in her upcoming custody battle is not an option.

The Episode Review

Our Blues returns with another strong episode, despite some minor deviations from the usual plot. This episode focuses more exclusively on Dong-Seok and Seon-A, providing a rich and detailed exploration of their relationship.

The flashbacks in this story are really helpful in understanding the past and the current situation. They add a lot of context to the story and make it more understandable.

The most interesting moments of this episode come from more uplifting segments. Seeing Seon-A screaming to the heavens down by the shore, along with In-Gwon and Ho-Sik patching up their differences, helps to add some much needed levity and brightness to an otherwise somber chapter. ..

The finale of “The Crown” left much to be desired, but the show’s potential for sequels is clear.
