Mi-Ran and Eun-Hui 1

Captain Jun answers the phone, but there is no answer from the caller.

Yeong-Ok takes her phone and heads outside. Apparently whoever it is is painting, although she does mention that Jun is her boyfriend. Yeong-Ok also promises to visit them next month.

Yeong-Ok tells Jun that she is not the woman who was on the phone with him earlier that day. She reveals that it is not her and she does not know who it was. She asks him to trust her with whatever secret she may be keeping.

Jun drives with Gi-Jun who is aware that he slept with Yeong-Ok. Jun has a huge smile on his face as he drives, knowing that he slept with Yeong-Ok.

Diving into the water, Yeong-Ok gets her flipper caught in a net. Luckily, she’s close by to the others and they’re able to get down and help her. It also reinforces just what the women were talking about before, sticking together in the water to prevent an accident.

The other women all accuse Yeong-Ok of being reckless, pointing out that Chun-Hui could have died and they only got to dive for an hour rather than 4 because of her greediness.

After the other women leave, Yeong-OK is left alone with Chun-Hui. Some people question her greediness after this. ..

Yeong-Ok opens up to Chun-hui about her parents, who she says passed when she was younger and how they worked themselves to death before eventually dying in a car accident.

Yeong-Ok is on the phone with Chun-Hui, who forces her to open up about who she is and what she’s doing there. As the camera pans to outside, we don’t actually see what they’re talking about but it’s enough for Yeong-Ok to break down crying.

Ko Mi-Ram is about to head back to Jeju Island, which puts Eun-Hui on edge as she picks her up from the airport. ..

Eun-Hui is not pleased with how flippant Mi-Ram has been with her divorces.

After three divorces, Eun-Hui is still struggling to provide a stable home for her daughter. She has failed to attend her daughter’s graduation and seems to be using this trip to Jeju as an excuse to avoid her responsibilities. However, everyone in town seems to think she is a wonderful person and the best thing since sliced bread. This has not been helpful in helping Eun-Hui meet her obligations. ..

That afternoon, Eun-Hui gets annoyed with how popular she is. That doesn’t help either when Mi-Ran decides not to eat there; she’s eating out.

But recently, Eun-Hui has begun to feel like Mi-Ran is not really her friend at all. She doesn’t understand why Mi-Ran would do something so mean and hurtful, but she can’t help but feel like she’s the one who’s been wronged.

Eun-Hui was always a dependable friend to wealthy girl Joo-Yeon. When Joo-Yeon needed help getting her GED, Eun-Hui was more than happy to help. But now that Joo-Yeon is no longer wealthy, things have changed. ..

Mi- Ran has always been this brazen, belittling Eun-Hui and even throwing away food at school, calling her a moocher. It would appear there are two sides to her friend and Eun-Hui has ignored a lot of that. ..

A year ago, Eun-Hui was usually forgiving. However, after Mi-Ran’s divorce, she showed up at her apartment panicking and begging her not to die in a flashback. ..

Eun-Hui was bet with her friends to see if she was loyal enough to come all the way to Seoul from Jeju Island. She realized that they were not really friends and decided to work out what to do about it.

The Episode Review

Mi-Ran is a selfish and unyielding woman who doesn’t care about anyone but herself. She’s a terrible friend, and we see this from the past flashbacks. Eun-Hui is the only one who seems to care about her, and she’s been trying to make things right between the two of them. However, Mi-Ran won’t listen and continues to be an annoyance.

Mi-Ran is a woman who Eun-Hui owes a lot to. She helps her out when she’s in need and Eun-Hui finds herself indebted to her.

Eun-Hui needs to stand up for herself and the ending appears as if we’re heading in that direction. The relationship has been an interesting one and although not all the stories in this show have fired on all cylinders, Our Blues has been an intriguing watch nonetheless.
