This isn’t to say that there isn’t any action, however, as bad guys still get beaten up and superheroic acts are performed. As such, you should still enjoy the movie, even though it’s not as grandiose as movies within the MCU.
What is Samaritan about?
The movie follows the story of Sam and Joe, who are neighbours in a small town in Maine. Sam thinks that Joe is a superhero that he supposedly died many years earlier alongside his evil twin brother, Nemesis. Is Joe the superhero that everybody thought was dead?
Joe appears to be a kind-hearted person who is always willing to help others. After seeing him save Sam from thugs early in the movie, it’s clear that he has super strength. When he breaks into Cyrus’s lair to rescue Sam, we also see evidence of Joe’s superpowers. So, is he a kind-hearted person or not?
Cyrus thinks Joe is a good man and he calls him the “good man, Samaritan.”
Joe responds by saying, “You keep calling me the good guy. I’m not the good guy. I’m the bad guy.”

In the movie, Samaritan refuses to kill Nemesis with the hammer, which leads to the building collapsing and him falling to his death. Joe, who is watching from the sidelines, removes his mask and reveals himself to be Samaritan.
Joe is not the superhero that Sam and Cyrus believed him to be. He is, in fact, Nemesis.
In the present day, Joe/Nemesis dispatches Cyrus and his henchmen, saving Sam from further harm. ..
When Sam is interviewed about the person that saved him, he exclaims “Samaritan lives” instead of revealing Joe’s true identity.
So Joe isn’t a superhero then?
Joe is not the hero people thought him to be, but he still proved his heroic credentials when he saved Sam. So, while Joe was/is Nemesis, it’s clear that there is good in him (despite the fact that we see him throwing Cyrus into a fire).
Joe tells Sam that it’s up to him to make the right choice. This points to the hero/villain in all of us and it points to the blurred morality within Joe.
Nemesis is a powerful being who is known for being able to control the elements and manipulate people. Joe, on the other hand, is just a regular person who has been caught in the middle of this power struggle.
Joe has a choice after Samaritan is revealed to be Sam. He can go back to his job as a garbage collector or he could take on the mantle of his dead brother and become Samaritan. If a sequel is ever announced, Joe could become a fully-fledged superhero, despite the darkness that still exists within himself.
The Samaritan movie is a heartwarming story of love and compassion. It tells the story of a woman named Sarah (played by Rachel Weisz) who is struggling to make ends meet and find a way to help others. Sarah meets a man named John (played by Christian Bale) who helps her out and they fall in love. However, Sarah is struggling to make ends meet and can’t afford to keep up with John’s expenses. John helps Sarah out by giving her money back to her in installments, which makes her feel grateful. The Samaritan movie is an excellent example of how love can help people in difficult situations.
