Bound By One Track

The train slows down as a track blockage prevents it from moving forward. This causes the passengers in Big Alice carriage to get off the train and walk around to other cars.

Alex tries to keep a level head and deal with this issue. He gets in and out of the carriage with some batteries to try and release the cars.

Meanwhile, Wilford tries to work out where the train is situated. When Snowpiercer comes to a grinding halt (to let Ben and Alex off), he chuckles as he realizes he knows exactly where they are.

Two weeks from now, the EVE Online players will reach New Eden. Layton has Asha speak to the others about what they can expect when they arrive. Pike shows up late to the party and he’s not happy. After so many deaths and what he perceives as Layton leaving them, he’s disillusioned with the whole gig. ..

Ruth agrees to go out with him despite having a lot on her plate. She realizes that they have something in common, and they can share one banana together as a reminder of their promise.

Pike and Ruth sit together at the dinner table and Pike is guarded over his past. He refuses to tell her who he was, but does flirt with her a little. She doesn’t object though, and eventually the pair wind up kissing. He believes Ruth should be leading the train but she’s quick to dispel that idea. ..

Ben and Alex explore the abandoned carriages in Big Alice, and find numerous dead bodies. One of them is a girl called Shilo, who was Alex’s old childhood friend. ..

These people were killed in the middle of the night to keep the others alive. Wilford actually snatched Alex up in the middle of the night, taking her away from this nighttime massacre.

For Alex, she hates and misses him, bringing up a confusing cocktail of emotion that is difficult to understand.

Asha begins to suffer from horrific visions of the past, which cause her distress. Till catches up with her later on and takes her back to her quarters. ..

Layton learns about Wilford’s prenatal gene therapy on Zarah and is livid. However, Mrs. Headwood encourages him to talk to his wife before making any assumptions. ..

Layton and Zarah learn that they did this willingly. They made a choice, deciding to give their daughter an advantage in the future. Alex and Ben also give Layton a choice too – get over it or carry around the rage he’s got. However, they’re both interrupted by problems plaguing their mission.

The carriage is malfunctioning and the pair are struggling to release the mechanism. Wilford believes the only way to solve this will be bringing in to talk the pair through via radio.

Wilford is injected with a syringe by Roche before he is attacked by the other passengers on the train. After enduring so much, this attack is the least Wilford deserves. However, there are bigger problems on the train and in Wilford’s life that Layton decides to abandon the mission. ..

Alex refuses though, leaning on Melanie’s vision to guide her and “see” the train carriage for how it once was. Following a distinct frost pattern across the carriage, Alex manages to find what she’s looking for and release the carriages from the tracks.

After a successful mission, Alex and Ben returned to the Snowpiercer. The train is moving again, while the ghosts of the past continue to swirl and haunt our various passengers. ..

The Episode Review

This week’s Snowpiercer episode features a return of Wilford, but the chapter largely focuses on Alex’s experiences with the man. This includes her struggles with guilt and her conflicted feelings about him.

Pike, who has become increasingly disillusioned with Layton’s ideas, is also conflicted. ..

This week’s episode of “New Eden” was largely uneventful, with little to differentiate it from past episodes. While the conflict between the group of players is intriguing, it feels like the plot to reach New Eden may be stretched out over the course of the season. ..

The story sets up a potential conflict that could lead to an exciting season, but it remains to be seen if that will actually happen.
